Wear it pink
October 2024
Pink isn't a colour you'll often see our team in. But if you stopped by the office this week you'd have seen us in our finest pink attire, dressed up and raising money for Breast Cancer Now. There was a pink quiz, pink cans of baked beans for the winners (team 'Simply the Breast'), and every pink snack you can think of.
We're pleased to have raised £96 to help fund life changing breast cancer support and research - we're also pleased we don't have to see that much pink every day.
Macmillan coffee morning 2024
September 2024
The Macmillan coffee morning has fast become a favourite event amongst the Simpson Financial Services team. Not only do we do our best impression of 'people vs cake' - and win - we also raise some money for a fantastic cause.
This year, Financial Administrator Luke took the star baker crown with his incredible tres leches cake. If you want the recipe - just get in touch! We raised £81 over the morning which will go directly to funding the Macmillan support line.
Dragon Boat Race 2024
September 2024
After a busy year spent training arms in the gym and practicing our teamwork in the office, we were ready and raring to take on the Dragon Boat Race at St Nicholas' Park in Warwick. We had the backing of our wonderful friends, families, and clients, and raised a whopping £1238 for Myton Hospice and Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas. The event was cancelled due to thunderstorms, including high winds that made rowing unsafe! We're pleased to say that all the money raised went to those who need it at the respective charities, and we're looking forward to a return of the event next year.
Charity lawn bowls 2024
August 2024
With each year spent hosting our charity lawn bowls event at Avenue Bowls Club, the Simpson Financial Services team get more competitive (although no more skilled at bowls...). This year we had ten teams playing head to head, with some hoping to win, some hoping to place anywhere but last, and most just there to have a really good time raising money for an excellent cause.
After a quick welcome from Managing Director Rob Simpson, our special guests John Hutchinson and Julie Day, trustees from Helping Hands, started the day by telling us all about their pivotal work in our community. We're pleased to say we raised £920 for them on the day. And as for the bowls, team 'Bowling for Soup', pictured right, took home the top prize. Congratulations!
Shoebox appeal 2023
December 2023
Helping Hands Community Project have been running their annual shoebox collection again, each one filled with Christmas gifts for the homeless and vulnerable in our local area.
We were happy to help out, and have been sourcing practical items as well as small bits of joy that can make a difference day to day. A big thank you to Helping Hands for their continued hard work and Merry Christmas to all those receiving a shoebox.
Macmillan coffee morning
September 2023
We never turn down the opportunity to eat cake, even if we have to bake it ourselves. And what could be better than cake, coffee, and charity fundraising?
Enter: Macmillan coffee morning. It was a chance to come together, enjoy delicious treats and raise money for those affected by cancer. We raised £75 which will help run three online community forums for one hour. In this time, 100 people affected by cancer can support one another.
Naturally we added a competitive element and can announce that our star baker was Vicky, Paraplanner and chef supreme with a wonderful Dorset apple cake.
Dragon Boat Race
September 2023
We paddled our hearts out and raced down the river at the Stratford-upon-Avon Dragon Boat Race, in support of the The Shakespeare Hospice. It was an exhilarating day, with excellent team spirit and a competitive atmosphere. Cheered on by our supporters lining the banks, we won one of our races and, most importantly, raised £1,527.
The Shakespeare Hospice will continue its valuable work, providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families in need. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, efforts and generosity to this unforgettable day of action and community spirit, making a real difference in the lives of those facing life-limiting illnesses.
Charity lawn bowls 2023
June 2023
After such a successful charity lawn bowls match in 2022, this year we had just one goal: raise even more money for Helping Hands. With that in mind, we're pleased to announce we raised £960, toppling last year's total by over £200!
We had a great group of clients and staff, the patient support of the Avenue Bowls Club team and fantastic weather to boot. Many thanks to everyone who got involved, and we hope to see you back on the green next year.
Soup kitchen takeover
March 2023
We've always admired the critical work that local charity Helping Hands Community Project do in support of the homeless and vulnerable. So when Vicky, one of our Paraplanners, mentioned we could help them out by taking over their soup kitchen, we signed up on the spot. We prepared two meals, dished up the food and served drinks to over 50 people in need.
“Taking over the soup kitchen was a great experience. It was rewarding to see the impact we were having on those who needed it, and it was nice to get to know them and hear their stories. I would love to do it frequently as the regular volunteers said how helpful it is when people take over and cook meals for them.” - Hannah Stanley, Independent Financial Adviser
Christmas Jumper Day
December 2022
You're probably pretty familiar with Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day - it's responsible for the annual parade of festive knits, raising vital funds to give children around the world the future they deserve.
Here at Simpson Financial Services, we never miss the chance to wear something a little daft and fundraise for a worthy cause. It's safe to say the vibe in the office was merry and bright!
Charity lawn bowls
August 2022
Our 2022 annual charity lawn bowls match was a great success, raising £750 for Leamington-based charity Helping Hands. We love a bit of friendly competition, especially when we get to join forces with our clients and make a difference to the lives of local vulnerable people.
The brilliant team at Avenue Bowls Club were on hand to help us out, and we had a relaxed afternoon of food, drink, and bowls. A big thank you to everyone who got involved. Keep an eye out for next year's match...
Shoebox appeal
December 2021
We've been putting together shoeboxes for the Christmas Shoebox Appeal for Helping Hands in Leamington.
Helping Hands is an inspiring local initiative that delivers shoeboxes (filled with small pieces of joy) to adults, teenagers, children and families who are homeless and/or vulnerably housed in Leamington Spa, Warwick and Kenilworth.
