Women in finance: Inspiring inclusion with equal opportunities
International Women’s Day 2024 is all about inspiring inclusion. When it comes to finance, we believe that representation is crucial in driving change; the more women are seen working within traditionally male environments - especially at senior leadership levels - the more inclusive those environments tend to become.
The financial services industry is undoubtedly male-dominated. A 2019 study carried out by the Financial Conduct Authority found that “gender diversity is low at the industry level overall with women making up just around 17% of FCA-approved individuals. Despite several regime shifts, this figure is remarkably unchanged since 2005” - and we doubt it’s shifted much since 2019 either. So, when you step into the Simpson Financial Services offices, you might be surprised to see a predominantly female team. From Financial Administrators to Paraplanners, Independent Financial Advisers, and Directors, women are embedded into our firm, our ethos and our operations. For us, inspiring inclusion within financial services is about investing in women; putting time into training and providing equal opportunities at every level of the business.
With that in mind, we sat down with a few of our team members and asked them some questions about diversity, International Women’s Day, and their own careers.
